Service and Camping at Cub-On!

Posted on Aug 18 2025 - 9:31pm

Cub-On is an action-packed weekend for Cub Scouts, and this year they need our help more than ever since the weekend we’re covering is completely sold out! As volunteers, our job will be to help run the activities and keep everything running smoothly—and in return you’ll get free meals all weekend, likely a staff tent to stay in, tons of service hours (this also counts toward camping nights and volunteer hours, and MC’ing campfire can even fulfill a Communications requirement!), and of course an awesome time with friends. Some of the activities we’ll get to help with include BB gun range (assistant), archery range (assistant), kitchen work (meal prep, cooking, and dishes), crafts and games like pumpkin carving, setting up and running the Haunted Trail (the best part), and even MC’ing an amazing campfire. We’re looking for about 8 strong, mature, and willing volunteers to step up, ideally scouts who are First Class and 14+, but if you’re younger or not yet First Class and you know you can handle working hard and being a positive role model for younger scouts, you can still be considered with approval from Tor and Dr. Lin. Everyone arrives October 17th and leaves the afternoon of October 19th at Boulder Creek Scout Reservation.

If you’re interested, please email Tor Anderson directly with your parents and Dr. Lin copied—this is going to be a great experience, so don’t miss out!

High Adventure: PHILMONT 2026 Summer Trek [sign ups / interest list open]

Posted on Jul 27 2025 - 8:42pm

Next Summer!

Philmont scout ranch Summer 2026 Trek!

Philmont Scout Ranch is Scouting America’s largest National High-Adventure Base. Born in 1938 as Philturn Rocky Mountain Scout Camp, Philmont has become a bustling center for high adventure and training. It covers 140,177 acres of rugged mountain wilderness in the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rocky Mountains in northeastern New Mexico. Ancient Native Americans chipped petroglyphs into canyon walls. Spanish conquistadors explored the Southwest long before the first colonists arrived on the Atlantic coast. The rugged breed of mountain man such as Kit Carson blazed trails across this land. The great land barons like Lucien Maxwell built ranches along the Santa Fe Trail. Miners, loggers and cowboys have all left their mark on Philmont’s unique history.
